Getting Started with DSP&S Disabled Students Programs and Services
Step One
The first step for students new to Disabled Students Programs & Services is our New Student Intake. In this group session we'll discuss DSP&S policies and procedures, available support services, and the information we need to complete your student file.
The intake sessions are open to LBCC students who are not yet receiving services from DSP&S, incoming students who are new to LBCC, and individuals who are considering enrolling in LBCC. Intake appointments may be made online or by calling LAC (562/938-4558) or PCC (562/938-3921).
When making your appointment, please indicate if you will need special assistance during the New Student Intake such as a reader, writer or sign language interpreter.
Step Two
Following your attendance at a New Student Intake, you will be given an appointment to see a DSP&S counselor. In this appointment, you will be able to discuss your individual disability-related issues and determine what kinds of assistance may be needed in order to ensure your full participation in the programs available at Long Beach City College.
You will work together with a DSP&S counselor to establish an educational plan and explore available options in your course of study. Implementation and appropriate use of services will be discussed.
Step Three
You may register for the current or upcoming semester either independently or with the assistance of DSP&S staff. Our DSP&S support staff and counselors are available to assist you throughout your stay at Long Beach City College.
